We are honored to announced that Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine has named Cathleen Bolek one of the Top 100 Attorneys in Ohio. For the sixth and eighth years in a row respectively, the publication has also named Matthew D. Besser and Amy S. Glesius to its list of Ohio Super Lawyers in employment law representing individuals.
Super Lawyers is among the most respected independent attorney rating publications in the nation. Every year, it recognizes the “top lawyers in Ohio” using a patented multi-step process. That process involves not only a statewide attorney survey and peer nominations, but independent evaluation as well. Only 5% of attorneys in Ohio receive the Super Lawyers distinction.
The Super Lawyers process
Recognition as an “Ohio Super Lawyer” cannot be purchased; it can only be earned.
The process begins with the publication’s annual statewide survey, inviting lawyers to nominate the top lawyers they have personally observed. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves, and may not campaign for or solicit nomination.
After the nomination process, Super Lawyers researches the credentials of the nominated candidates. The publication uses 12 indicators of professional skill and peer recognition. Among them are:
- Verdicts and settlements;
- Experience;
- Honors and awards;
- Professional involvement;
- Pro bono and community service; and,
- Scholarly lectures and writings.
The next step is peer evaluation by attorneys in the relevant practice area—a process Super Lawyers calls its “blue ribbon review.” The highest-rated candidates in a given practice area are asked to review other candidates, rating them on a scale of one to five.
At the conclusion of the process, Super Lawyers selects the top 5% of total lawyers in the state for recognition.
Cathleen Bolek named a Top 100 Attorney in Ohio
This year, Super Lawyers named Cathleen Bolek one of the Top 100 Attorneys in Ohio. And rightly so. The magazine previously named her to its list of Ohio Super Lawyers in the field of employment law every year since 2015, and for 2018, named her one of the Top 50 Female Attorneys in Ohio.
